I was born in 1967 in Salerno, Italy, a town suspended between the sea and the hills, near the Amalfitan Coast, having been lucky enough to experience the last shining of his unique beauty.
I remember like in a dream the touch of the soft green grass and yellow flowers popping out from under the perfumed oranges trees at the end of the winter.
After that, a flat layer made of concrete and asphalt annihilated them forever.
That experience, the most formative in my life, influenced my perception of the reality setting a scale of values.
I learned that not all that counts can be counted.
I was 14 when I got my first camera, a mechanical reflex with 50mm and 125mm lenses. Later, during my studies at the Federico II University of Naples, School of Architecture, I learned the B&W development and print techniques and started occasional professional work and collaboration with individuals and photo studios.
Becoming an architect helped me to improve my understanding of the processes and the causes of the transformation of the human environment.
Photography can easily reveal those structures, anytime an irreverent crack in the glossy appearance of things is impressed onto photo sensitive material.
The photographer can be a medium, a bridge suspended between different states of reality.
My favorite subject is man in his labyrinth, the city, a complex system made of contrasting and non planar visions.
I am experiencing that each change of the human environment causes, and reflects, a change in the human spirit.
